Dual Language Program

  • HISD’s Dual-Language Program offers students an opportunity to learn a second language by being taught in both English and Spanish. Students retain their first language, customs, and traditions while becoming fluent in a second language. For more information, please see Dual Language Programs.

Academic Offerings

We use Amplify Reading and Eureka Math which focus on deep conceptual understanding, procedural fluency, and real‑world problem solving.

Core Subjects:

Our core subjects—English Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies—are taught using research-based curricula like Amplify and Eureka, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging educational experience.

SPED Programs:

Our Special Education programs, including Skills for Learning and Living (SLL) and Structured Learning Classroom (SLC-Alt), provide tailored support to meet the diverse needs of students with individualized learning requirements.

Gifted and Talented Program:

The Gifted and Talented Program is designed for G/T students who excel in general intellectual ability, in combination with creative/productive thinking and/or leadership ability.

Tutorials:

 Students have the opportunity to attend tutorial sessions in an effort to achieve mastery of a subject area. Within the tutorial setting, a student not only gains knowledge of the content, but confidence in using the content.
